History

For all you history buffs out there, Mobile is anything but short of historical sights to see. Visiting for the first time? You have to check out all that Fort Conde has to offer. This free site was built in 1723 by French Explorers and is located right in the middle of town. Fort Conde is full of fascinating information and local history you don’t want to miss. The History Museum of Mobile is another must-see. This museum has both permanent and rotating exhibits that will inform you about the history of mobile and the important men and women who made Mobile what it is today. Other museums you should visit are the Mobile Carnival Museum, the Conde-Charlotte Museum and the Phoenix Fire Museum.

Art

If you’re someone who values creativity and art, then Mobile is the perfect place for you. Downtown features multiple galleries like the Alabama Contemporary Art Center, the Sophiella Gallery, the Mobile Arts Council and Gallery 450 to name a few. Spend the afternoon exploring these galleries and get inspired by the talent of local artists. Once a month, on the second Friday of the month, explore downtown in an even more creative way than ever before with Loda Art Walk. From 6-9 pm, you can browse local vendors and pop-up markets at your leisure, all while enjoying local music and food near Cathedral Square.

Mobile is also known for having some of the best local food on the coast. Whether you want authentic, local seafood or a delicious brunch with friends, you’ll find some of your favorite dishes right in the heart of downtown. Enjoy a delicious mimosa as you sit at a pet-friendly table outside of Spot of Tea, or grab something eclectic and unique at Squid Ink.
