Spring Events In Mobile That You Don’t Want To Miss!

Springtime is the best time in Lower Alabama! The weather is warmer and some of the best festivals begin to roll out. You’ll be guaranteed a good time at any one of these exciting events!

70th Annual Blessing of the Fleet

Visit the historic fishing town of Bayou La Batre on May 4th and 5th, for the 70th Annual Blessing of the Fleet, hosted by St. Margaret Catholic Church. Admission is free and activities will include: a gumbo cookoff, arts and crafts, boat cruises, entertainment for kids and plenty of Alabama Gulf seafood as well as traditional Vietnamese dishes. A land and boat parade will conclude the festivities on Sunday.

May the Fourth Be With You

Star Wars fans unite! The Gulf Coast Exploreum will host its annual Domehead Science: May The Fourth Be With You edition on May 4th (appropriately). The evening will begin with a discussion about the “The Astrophysics of Star Wars” presented by Dr. Albert Gapud, Ph.D., University of South Alabama, Department of Physics. A showing of “The Force Awakens” will follow the talk in the IMAX theater. Be sure to get your photo taken with one of the members from the 501st Legion!

Mobile River Food & Music Festival

On Sunday, May 5th, the Inaugural Mobile River Food and Music Festival will take place at Cooper Riverside Park. The mid-afternoon event will have chefs from local restaurants, cooking and serving local favorites. Music from area musicians will provide entertainment for attendees. Proceeds from the event will help the local nonprofit, A Servant’s Love. Two food sampling tickets will be given to those who bring two canned food donations.  

Mother’s Day Evening Concert at Bellingrath

Spend an evening with Mom in the beauty of Bellingrath’s Gardens and Home for the Annual Mother’s Day Evening Concert. The Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra will entertain guests while beverages and snacks will be available for purchase.

4th Annual Creek Fest

Did you know that Three Mile Creek was the City of Mobile’s first source of drinking water? Celebrate the revival of this natural resource at the 4th Annual Creek Fest on May 11th. This family-friendly free event will include plenty of educational exhibits, food, music, door prizes and kids activities along with kayak rides. There will also be a fun run and a cane pole fishing tournament for children 16 and under.

Crawfish for a Cause

Stop by The Grounds on May 11th, for some mudbugs and a good time all while celebrating a great cause. Adults pay just $30 for all you can eat crawfish and beverages. Tickets for children ages 6-10 are only $10, while those 5 and under are admitted for free. There will be plenty of food, fun and music for everyone in the family. Proceeds from the event support the University Hospital’s Arnold Luterman Regional Burn Center. Tickets are presale only so grab yours before they run out!
