Halloween around Mobile and Baldwin County is always a fun time for its residents. Trunk or treats, pumpkin patches and fall festivals are just a handful of activities available. But if you want to take your Halloween celebrations to the next level, there are several Haunted Houses around town for you to scare up a good time.
Carnival of Screams
Daphne
A popular attraction on the Eastern Shore is Carnival of Screams in the Lake Forest subdivision. The hauntingly huge display goes up October 1, with the main event being Halloween night. The 25-room maze guides panic-stricken patrons through a terrifying tour of carnival carnage. A photographer is present to capture your experience….if you survive! The event is free and considered family friendly with donations accepted.
Town of Terror – Circus Asylum
OWA
Enter Downtown OWA’s Town of Terror if you dare! Local haunted house specialists, Nightmare Chambers, has partnered with OWA to bring a frightening experience to the Gulf Coast. Promising to bring you the “circus of your nightmares,” Circus Asylum’s possessed performers and demented ringmaster will bring a chill to your bones. The fear in the “big top” begins October 5 and will run every weekend through Halloween.
Want a little less scare for your haunted house adventure? The “No Boo” Tour is an option for those who want a less frightening experience in the haunted house. “No Boo” necklaces are available for purchase for those who want to visit but don’t want the characters to spook them.
Haunted Arena
Mobile
Visit Lazer Zone in Mobile for a good scare at their Haunted Arena. This haunting walk through has scares around every corner including spooky characters, strobe lights and sound effects for a terrifying experience. The frightening fun will be October 11 through 13 at the Lazer Zone location on Schillinger Road.
A Literary Nightmare
Chickasaw
The Chickasaw Library’s, The Literary Nightmare, will take the nightmares from your favorite novels and bring them to life. The haunted house will guarantee a good scare. A hayride and walking trail concludes the terrifying tour. Young children will have an alternate activity at the library.
Buckaroo Boo
Bay Minette
What is more terrifying than a walk through a dark house filled ghosts of the undead? How about a hayride through the forest in the dark of night? Located on the property of Buckaroo Barn in Bay Minette, this haunted hayride will take guests on a terrifying tour full of ghouls and goblins. The event will be held October 19, 20, 26 and 27. Entry fee of $10, cash only. Hosts insist this hayride is not for small children and for parents to use their discretion.
Haunted Barn and Hayride
Norman Farms, Semmes
Norman Farms in Semmes will host a haunted barn and hayride on October 26 and 27. The hosts will be collecting a $5 donation for the Pasco House for Women.
