Football season is upon us and that means local bars and restaurants will soon be gearing for the big games ahead. Whether you say Roll Tide or War Eagle, South Alabama has some great places to watch your favorite team play.
Heroes Sports Bar and Grille
With locations in Downtown and West Mobile, Heroes Sports Bar and Grille is best known for their “big ass” burger and extensive beer selection. You can see (and feel) the SEC pride in this popular hometown spot.
Yinzers Brew and Grill
This new addition to the Eastern Shore is quickly becoming a Gulf Coast favorite. Locals love the Pittsburg inspired menu as well as the several televisions and game room.
Baumhower’s Victory Grille
This Alabama chain keeps it simple: Football, Wings and Beer. If you want to try something new, this family-friendly restaurant offers an eclectic lunch and dinner menu. Locations include Daphne and a new spot smack dab on Airport Road in Mobile.
Draft Picks Tap Room
Sandwiched in between the Dauphin Street Blues Company and O’Daly’s on Dauphin Street, is Draft Picks Tap Room. This downtown hot spot offers 36 beers on tap as well as 9 televisions.
Touchdown Tavern
Just as the name implies, Touchdown Tavern is the place to watch a football game. The only thing you’ll be accused of “holding” is a cold one at this sports bar located in Tillman’s Corner.
Beef ‘O’Brady’s
If you prefer to make game day a family affair, then visit either the Mobile or Spanish Fort location of Beef ‘O’Brady’s. Both establishments offer multiple televisions, complete with a family-friendly atmosphere.
LoDa Bier Garten
You can’t walk down Dauphin Street during football season and not hit up LoDa Bier Garten. With over 100 beers from around the world on tap, big screen televisions and a tasty German-inspired menu this is the place to watch a game with your buddies (and your furry friend). The popular restaurant now offers a second location in West Mobile.
Trattoria Pizza and Italian
Beer, pizza and wings are the holy trinity of football and you can enjoy them all at Trattoria Pizza and Italian in Spanish Fort (and soon to be Foley at OWA.) If you’re feeling fancy, enjoy one of their pasta dinners and a glass of wine.
McSharry’s Irish Pub
Find the luck of the Irish at McSharry’s Irish Pub in Downtown Fairhope. Watch the game from inside by the bar or outside on the patio while you enjoy one their many beers on tap.
If you celebrated a bit too much during and after the game, then visit Peak Alkalinity for some superior rehydration. A cold-pressed juice from Agape Juices will also help you get back on track if you indulged in too many chicken wings.
Get ready to break out your houndstooth fedora or start practicing your best “War Damn Eagle” because it’s time for some football. Grab your friends, a cold one and visit some of these local spots for a great day of football.
