Mobile, Alabama is vibrant and active during the summertime. This is what the city was created for and as such, there are numerous events to make summer special in the Port City. We’ve scoured the calendars to find the best events in June for you and your family to enjoy this month.
Every Saturday in June—Market on the Square
Every Saturday head down to Cathedral Square for an open market that lets you support local artisans and farmers while enjoying an early afternoon in one of Mobile’s most historic squares. From 7:30 a.m.- noon there is live music, art displays, fresh local produce, and baked goods for sale filling this popular area downtown for your enjoyment.
June 8—Coastal Seafood Craze at the Hank
Seafood and baseball, it’s the perfect summer combination on the Gulf Coast. Bring the family out to Hank Aaron Stadium for a seafood festival from 5-7p.m. featuring restaurants serving locally caught seafood. Your ticket will also include entrance to the Mobile BayBears game that evening.

June 10—Dragon Boat Festival at the Battleship
This ancient boating tradition relies on teamwork, strength and focus. This year’s event will take place at the USS Battleship fundraising for local children organizations. You can still sign up for your own team as well at this website. Even if you aren’t participating come on out for a day of fun that benefits local charities and watch one of the most exciting events on water.
June 12-July 28—Art Blast Summer Art Camp
Every weekday during much of June and July, the Mobile Museum of Art is open for kids to learn about ceramics, painting and drawing to inspire the artist within them all. The class last from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. and are taught by experienced art educators.
June 14—Kids Gulf Discovery Day at Bellingrath Gardens and Home
From 9 a.m.- noon, bring the family out to Bellingrath Gardens for an interactive day both parents and kids can enjoy. The young ones will learn about the environment and ecology of the Gulf Coast. There are numerous activities during the day to enjoy including a guided cruise of Fowl River with WildNative Delta Safaris. The gardens in June are a sight to behold and parents will enjoy the beautiful grounds while children learn about the place they call home.
Admission: $13 for adults, $7.50 for ages 5-12, free to members and ages 4 and younger.
June 29 – July 1—Distinguished Young Woman Preliminaries and Finals
The national event that was birthed in Mobile, and it is the nation’s largest and oldest scholarship program for high school girls. It will open at the Mobile Civic Center June 29 with representatives from every state. Head to the show to support your favorites and watch the glitz and glamour of some the nations best and brightest. The young women actually arrive June 18 and take part in activities and events all around Mobile, many of which the public are invited to!
Whatever you choose to fill your summer with, there’s a good chance it’s offered in Mobile. Take advantage of your city in the summer this year and experience Mobile in its summer best.
